Data collection and sharing, in-app advertising, social networking and commerce features will all be in the spotlight next week when the FTC will issue a new report on mobile apps intended for children. This is a follow-up to the report that they issued this past February.

At that time, the FTC warned that “the kids app ecosystem needs to wake up” with respect to privacy and transparency practices.

Specific areas of concern for the FTC include:
– Protecting children’s privacy
– Privacy practice disclosures
– Transparency related to in-app commerce, social features and advertising
– Parental controls

Is your app compliant? Do you understand the required privacy and in-app marketing practices and how to implement them? If you have questions about how to develop and market mobile products intended for children, we can help.
